Judith (Judy) Ann Louise Hamm (nee Barkhouse) October 17, 1943 – March 4, 2026 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judy Hamm of Vegreville, Alberta, on March 4, 2026, with her loving husband and children by her side. Born in Truro, Nova Scotia, the eldest of seven children, Judy grew up in Port Williams, Nova Scotia, living across the street from Bill, whom she later married. Together, they shared a life that took them to various communities in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland before eventually settling in Vegreville. A woman of many talents, Judy found great happiness in the precision of quilting and enjoyed time with her friends at the local quilting guild as they prepared comfort quilts and dog beds for donation. Over a few-year period, she created over 100 baby quilts per year that were donated to Edmonton hospitals by the guild. She loved looking after her family, cooking, and her baked goods were a testament to her generous spirit. She worked as a nurse in her early years, then for a section of the RCMP that later became CSIS, and then for the CPC. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Bill of 59 years; children Mark (Dana) and Heather (Stephen); sisters Clare (Tom) and Peggy; sisters-in-law Janet (Larry) and Yvonne; brother-in-law Don (Ruth); numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Ruby and Jean, and furry puppy friend Tessa. She was predeceased by infant daughter Tanya; parents Doug and Isabelle Barkhouse; parents-in-law Bill and Marjorie Hamm; brothers Jim (and wife Beverley), Rick, Bob, and Chris; brother-in-law Bob. The family extends their gratitude to the compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Vegreville, RN Gloria, and the AHS home care team in Vegreville and caregiver Yady. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the “Parkinson Association of Alberta” “Forever Loved, Forever Remembered”
