Growing up, Josh was one of my brother’s best friends. He was a constant in his life and therefore was always welcomed in our home, joining the family for supper and hanging out in the basement or backyard. And although they were older and “much cooler” Josh never made it seem that way. He never failed to say hi and never failed to acknowledge those around him. I only got to see a glimpse of who Josh was but his friendly, charming, and approachable personality stood out and will always be remembered. I know a lot of time has passed, fading some of those friendships from high school/college but the memories of who he was, never will. My deepest sympathies to Josh’s family and to those who knew him.

Kelly, Shauna, and family..my deepest sympathies to you and yours with the recent passing of Josh. I knew Josh very well. Josh and I rode bus together for many years. I remember all the years we played hockey together. The year that Justine and Josh were able to play on the same team was a year to remember. To be young again is just a dream. There are many memories that will be cherished.

When Josh and I were little, we did everything together. Having him as a stepbrother helped make my childhood what it was; it helped to shape me to be who I am today. I was so happy to finally have the brother I always wanted. We spent many nights staying up late, talking, laughing, and enjoying each other's company. Trouble always seemed to have a way of finding us. We were such pranksters. Even though we lost touch over the years, I always considered him to be, not just my stepbrother, but a true brother and my favorite sibling. I am so grateful we got back in contact, reminiscing about our memories together and discussing making new ones in the future. We talked about going to visit the Joshua Tree, and trying to look for an Amanda Tree to visit as well. I so wish that we could have. I wish we had more time.
His life was extinguished much too early, but his fire and light will live on forever.
My deepest condolences to his parents, family, and friends.
I'll miss you so much Josh, and I love you dearly.

Frozen in time, as were our laughs, the music of our teen era, memories in fields in the dark with bonfires among friends. You were a light, you were a precious privilege to call an old friend. Teenage memories from a time that was simpler, without a care in the world, you were unstoppable, bold and brave. Paths lead friends different ways after we find life after childhood, and the Universe keeps expanding and moving, as do we, with all of the energy, memories and legacies we leave on our journey. I will forever remember concerts, live shows, Sakundiak parties where all my friends were invited & safe. Conversations in hallways at school as we walked endless laps until the bell rang, having my parents chauffeur us around until we got our licenses & first cars. Chasing me down in the movie theatre to apologize for teenage drama, but your hug meant the world. From concerts, movies, camping May long, pool parties at Ty’s, Graduation parties, house hang outs at Jarys. I always loved listening to you boys rockout, watch you living your best life from a time I will always cherish. Guitar hero, Nintendo WII, the 24 hour ball hockey tourney. Drama room morning meet ups with the large crew of kids you made smile. Track and field shenanigans, getting yelled at by Mrs C because of boy gang shenanigans. We were definiltey the last coolest generation of kids. The 1990s into the 2000s, wishing I had more from the passed decade. You were a beautiful boy, man, brother, son, friend and human, Joshua Ulan. Until we meet again.

During my elementary years, one of the things that I loved about coming to Justine & Josh’s place was that we were allowed to watch South Park. Listening to Josh impersonate the different characters always cracked me up. I think he used to do Beevis and Butthead too? I also remember him doing Justine impersonations. Josh was such a funny and charming guy. Definitely the cool younger brother who was fun to hang out with. Josh also saved me from the farm dog humping my head as I was hanging upside down on the monkey bars at their place :D #grateful
The relationship between Justine and Josh was something that I admired. There was always so much love there, even when they were annoying each other. I didn’t know his younger brothers as much back then, but it was cool to see Josh taking his little brothers under his wing.
I’m surrounding Josh and his family and friends with so much love. Even though it may not make any sense right now, Josh’s spirit will live on. He’s always near.
