Obituary of Orest Hunka

HUNKA, Orest June 3, 1931 – April 14, 2025 We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Orest Hunka of Mundare, Alberta formerly of Vegreville and Norma on Monday, April 14, 2025 at the age of 93 years. Orest is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elsie; one son Barry (Brenda); one daughter Darlene (Bill) Schmidt; three grandchildren Haley Hunka, Leah (Alejandro) Torres Polo and Alex (Jill) Schmidt; three great-grandchildren Grace, Theo and Gavin Schmidt; and one sister Annie Zaharichuk. Orest was predeceased by his parents William T. and Alice Hunka; two brothers John and Nick; and one sister Mary Semotiuk. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Autumn Rose Funeral Home in Vegreville, Alberta with Fr. Benny Ambrosie officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “Covenant Health Foundation – Mary Immaculate Care Centre – Mundare, Alberta.”
