LUCYK (nee Lesoway), Emilie
November 29, 1933 – May 8, 2025
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Emilie Lucyk at the age of 91. She will be remembered as being hard-working, loving, kind and respectful to all.
Mom was skilled at cooking, gardening, sewing and crafts. She took pride in her grandchildren and loved watching them play sports. Fishing and camping were special activities she enjoyed throughout her life.
Loss is never easy, especially when it’s someone as special as Emilie was to all of us. She was a matriarch of our family and leaves a legacy of strong work ethic, wisdom, faith and love. Her heartwarming giggle and loving kindness truly touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing her. She was willing to share her faith in the Lord and always gave her best advice. During her 90th milestone birthday celebration, that specific advice was “be kind to each other, love each other and respect each other”. And so, we should.
The grandchildren held the most special place in her heart, because really, no one loves you like your Baba.
Emilie will be deeply missed by her daughters Gloria Radzick and Darlene (Byron) Swabb; son-in-law Dennis Flasha; cherished grandchildren Kevin (Kim) Flasha, Cindy Flasha, Tanis Coquet, Clayton Radzick, Noreen (Kris) Hurst, Desiree (Taylor) Brown, Ty (Melissa) Swabb; along with her precious great-grandchildren Kayla, Cory, William, Chase, Emily, Tennesy, Walker and Josie.
Emilie was the youngest daughter of John and Annie Lesoway. She was pre-deceased by eight brothers and six sisters; husband Max; daughters Debbie Dziwenka and Janet Flasha; son-in-laws Jerry Choma, Leonard Dziwenka, Terry Radzick; grandsons Derek Swabb and Sheldon Radzick.
A Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church – Mundare with the Basilian Fathers officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Demetro Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery – Hilliard Farms. Memorial donations are appreciated and may be made to “Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation” or “Covenant Health Foundation c/o Mary Immaculate Health Care Centre - Mundare” where she received excellent care until her final day.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to everyone for their condolences and other acts of kindness during this time. Special thanks to the Basilian Fathers, Autumn Rose Funeral Home and the Mary Immaculate Care Centre Staff.
