Sylvia was my Auntie, I remember going to her house for Christmas/Thanksgiving suppers. There was always a lot of laughs, games, great food and special dessert like layered Jello. She knew how to put a meal together. She always had some kind of joke to share too. I remember one Christmas break when I was spending time up at the Deacon‘s house and ended up staying for Christmas morning, Sylvia that night wrapped up a few of her Avon product to make sure I had something under the tree for that morning. She was a very friendly and caring person. I cherish the time we spend together. I hope you, Grandma, Grandpa, Melinda and Dad are playing cards and dancing in the sky.
Love always Angela, Steve, Axel, and Zoey Crosby

Sylvia
What can I say about my sister in law that I have know since I was 18 years old when I meet her younger brother Ken the love of my life. The first thing that comes to mind is her smile and sparkling eyes and that beautiful black wavy hair that I was so jealous of . Her soft voice that never complained or showed anger . The calmness that radiated from her that slowed the world down and made the time spent with her peaceful and not hurried .I have so many memories of the times we spent at her and Albert’s homes . The snowed in weekend at Mundare Ken and Albert cruising through the drifts . The acerage by Vegreville so much grass and area to let the kids play. And so many memories of their Vegreville home with her Avon , garden ,flowers and ferns And always Sylvia cooking and baking such delicious dishes and made in so many different ways .. the zucchini apple pie ( fooled you Albert) .. the hamburger stuffed turkey ( I didn’t think it would taste good but it was delicious) the jello layered dessert ( the kid’s favorite) everything always so delicious and yummy which ever way she made them . The quiet way that she showed her love for her children and grandchildren always believing that they would make the best choices in life in whatever they wanted to be and do. I will miss her but I just have to open up the back door in my mind and she is their smiling and the memories will comfort me. Love always from Lila

I’ve known Sylvia from years ago and her job at the CIBC. I spend time at the hospital while Sylvia was a patient and noted her struggles. It was hard for her and she certainly got minimal help from abundant staff especially at mealtime when Sylvia could not even reach her food tray. Family came daily. What a great mom she must have been to garner such love from her children in her time of need. Keep the good memories close. My sympathies at your loss.

Deepest Sympathy; Sylvia was a good friend and co-worker of mine when we were both employed by Vegreville Manor. She also was my Avon distributor. That was a side line job for her. She did her jobs well;always w/ a smile and had an excellent attitude. I will miss you and rest in peace. I was not the only one that admired her; I'm sure some of the residents will feel the same as I do. Till we meet again; Sherry Fedyna.

Sylvia was a beautiful, caring, and compassionate lady.
She told me what she did when she was working at the manor in Vegerville. All that she had to do, to get the work done . She was dedicated in that field she was working at. She will be missed, Sylvia was my sister-in-law and my daughter's Aunt. As my daughter's father was a brother to Albert. Rest in peace Sylvia. Our deepest condolences to Albert, Amanda, Lance, Chere' and family.
Love Gail and Brittany Deacon

Sylvia and I grew up together, as part of the same Smith family of relatives.
She was a bit older and way more proper than the rest of us cousins, I think. Definitely better behaved. I remember one time a bunch of us kids were supposed to be "confined to quarters" at a family gathering, and we all climbed out the window. Sylvia would have used the door (and wouldn't have been misbehaving in the first place. lol). But she didn't tattle on us either.
We lived very far apart as grownups, so didn't see much of each other, but she and I both loved quirky garden decorations. And family. I was glad to hear that she had some things that were her Grandma's. I'll always remember those parts of her. Plus she dressed so put together when I did see her - I admired that very much because I can't quite get there.
