Melva was a very special person, she was commonly known as Hossay at school. She was my coworker, friend, sometimes a second mother who would give me advice on being a new mom. Melva worked for a number of years with my disabled son, Creig, and was like an aunt to my other children when they were little. I remember when she helped play a trick on my daughter. Melva told her to look after a gerbil because she was giving it to her grandson, so Chelsea looked after this gerbil until Christmas. The joke was that this gerbil was actually for Chelsea.
I will be eternally grateful for the impact that Melva had on our lives and am sorry for this loss. My condolences to her family and friends.

Please accept our deepest condolences as Melva, an earth angel, went home. We have so many fond memories of Melva's trips to Bruderheim to help with community events or just to come for a Sunday cruise with her family. She was a star at organizing and creating displays and never hesitated to share her thoughts. She always thought of others and sent cards sharing positive thoughts and well-wishes. She will always have a special place in our heart.

Melva was a very kind lady that always had a smile and good story. She was a wonderful participant of the Legacy 4 Health Indoor Walking group and extraordinaire baker for the potlucks. May the good memories help get through this difficult time.

Melva was a wonderful neighbor and always up for a chat on her deck or ours, or on the driveway if we were both heading out somewhere,
I remember her commenting about how we had no Colour (flowers in the front yard) when the kids were young, she was so proud when we planted a few things…………you would be ecstatic now Melva, there is so much colour.
You will be missed, we are so glad we were fortunate enough to have you in our lives!
Condolences to all the family,
All our love Dan and Shalaine Vachon

To Melva's family:
I had the pleasure of meeting Melva many years ago at Curves. She was so encouraging to everyone and so easy to strike up a conversation with. It was special to meet up with her every now and then while out and about in Vegreville. Truly a wonderful lady!
Sincerest condolences,
Betty Farris

I will always remember Auntie Melva for her powerful commitment to family and friends. Her deeply rooted and unwavering compassion and kindness continues to inspire me. Gardening and baking skills I wish I could match! My favourite memory dates back to when I was a teenager. We hadn’t seen each other for a while. There was a big crowd of family gathering. Yet, when she saw me, she stopped in her tracks and laughed out loud with that big, deep laugh of hers. She hugged me and explained (between laughs) that on the journey over she was thinking Patty could babysit me (I am older than Patty) and my brother Allan (who is about the same age as Patty). In an instant we reconnected with laughter and warm hugs. She had that way.

Although I did not know Melva (Momma as I called her) for long, I feel like I have known her forever. She quickly earned a special place in my heart. We have had some great conversations-whether I was doing her hair or enjoying some great dinners together. Earl and I were lucky enough to have had the opportunity to take Momma on a fun and 'educational' road trip to Kendra and Brody's wedding. Momma had the soul of an angel, she was always praising her daughter and granddaughters. Momma also had the right amount of spice! She always put a smile on my face. I will miss her dearly.

Today, we acknowledge the passing of an extraordinary woman, yet we also celebrate her enduring impact. As Rylie Hossay and I remain the last male Hossays in Canada, we're reminded of our responsibility to uphold our family's values. My grandma Hossay, whose remarkable life came to a close, was a shining example of compassion, resilience, and generosity. Her distinguished military career, her devotion to special needs education, and her unwavering encouragement in my swimming pursuits continue to motivate us. The love she shared with my grandfather and her unconditional support for me will forever be etched in our hearts. I feel blessed to have had such an incredible grandma.
