Obituary of Emilian (Emil) Korpan

KORPAN, EMILIAN (EMIL) Emilian (Emil) Korpan passed peacefully on January 10, 2026, at St. Joseph’s General Hospital in Vegreville, aged 104. Born December 24, 1921 to Kyrylo and Maria Korpan. Emil is predeceased by his loving wife, Sophie; his darling daughters Arlene Hrynyk and Karen Wood; and 10 siblings. He leaves behind his grandson, Duncan Wood (Katie) and great granddaughters, Eliza and Nina; along with many nieces and nephews. Emil spent his days doing what he loved, farming. Being out on his land gave him the most joy, tinkering with projects and keeping everything maintained. Emil spent his last few years living at Heritage House in Vegreville, where he enjoyed the company of the other residents. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Autumn Rose Funeral Home – 5036-51 Ave. in Vegreville, Alberta with Pastor Scott MacKenzie officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Covenant Health Foundation c/o St. Joseph’s General Hospital-Vegreville-Palliative Care Suite” or the “Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.”
