Obituary of Horst Wilfert

WILFERT, Horst October 29, 1940 – February 7, 2026 With deep sadness the family of Horst Wilfert announces that he passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years on the morning of Saturday, February 7, 2026. He leaves behind his loving family, wife Kay of 53 years; daughter Lisa (Jerrad) Sagan; son Brian (Rochelle) Wilfert; grandchildren Elijah and Sadie; along with many cousins. Horst was a grand master auto mechanic, farmer and musician. He was fascinated by space travel and very knowledgeable about western history. His passion was music, and over the years he played with several bands: Johnny Bilyk and the Serenaders, Vegreville Polka Tones, Silver and Gold, and the Memory Lane from Lloydminster and in recent years, Jim Davis and Friends. His musical family were Jim and Gale, Carrie, Bill and Clare, Anita and Jerrold. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. On behalf of the family, we want to thank the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital emergency team and In Patient Unit for their care, compassion and kindness to Horst and his family and also to Autumn Rose Funeral Home for their guidance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Heart & Stroke Foundation” or to “STARS.”
