He was part of the Army Reserve from 1960-1962, and was also working for the Manitoba Tel. Rod married Joyce (ńee Tilling) on May 5, 1962. They both then moved to Alberta in 1967 where he worked for AGT/Telus. Rod was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 50 years and a member of town council for 9 years. He was a volunteer with many committees and was a mentor to many. He is survived by his wife Joyce; sons Kevin (Josie), Grant (Michelle) and Ian; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; Rod was predeceased by his parents Russell and Lillian; daughter-in-law Mary Couper (36); great-granddaughter Mari Pasahol (3 mo.). Cremation has taken place and a private family ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the “Stollery Children’s Hospital.”
