Obituary of Doreen Saik

Please share a memory of Doreen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
SAIK, Doreen May 4, 1945 – June 24, 2026 It is with profound sadness and immeasurable love that we announce the passing of Doreen Lee Saik on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the age of 81 years. Doreen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose presence brought warmth, comfort, and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. While our hearts are broken by her loss, we are grateful for the life she lived and the love she shared so freely. Born on May 4, 1945, in Vegreville, Alberta, Doreen spent her life devoted to the people and passions she cherished most. She found joy in farming, horses, gardening, cooking and family gathering at every holiday, she took great pride in creating a home where everyone felt welcomed and loved. Above all else, Doreen loved her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, partnership, and countless cherished memories. Together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, generosity, and family traditions. She was a proud and loving mother to her three daughters, Tori (Dave) King, Melanie (Glenn) Giggs and Chariti (Glen) Sawchuk; and an adoring grandmother to Devynn (David) Teel and Courtney King, Dyllan Saik and Shelby Sawchuk, who brought endless happiness to her life. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and deepest source of pride. Doreen had a gift for making people feel cared for. Her love language was food, and no one ever left her table hungry. Family dinners, holiday celebrations, and impromptu visits were marked by overflowing plates, laughter, and stories shared late into the evening. Guests rarely left her home without a full stomach and a bag of groceries for the road. The family farm was more than a place to live-it was the heart of countless memories. It was where children grew, weddings were celebrated, campfires burned late into summer nights, cribbage games were played with full conviction and breathtaking sunsets that painted the sky. Through her hard work and devotion, she created a place where family could gather, connect, and belong. Those who knew Doreen will remember her for her generosity, strength, kindness, and unwavering love. She taught us the importance of family, the value of hard work, and the joy of opening our hearts and homes to others. Though we will miss her deeply, we find comfort knowing that her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, family traditions, and the countless lives she touched. A Celebration of Doreen's Life will be held at a later date. Forever Loved. Forever Remembered. Forever Missed. “The world feels a little less warm without her in it, but the love she gave us will carry us for the rest of our lives."
