My heart is broken as I say goodbye to my favourite cousin, Marlene.
You were one of a kind. You always told it like it was, and I loved that about you. Your laugh was absolutely infectious, and yes... your way of having to make everything just so gave us all a good chuckle over the years! It was just another part of what made you, you.
No matter when we came to town, you always welcomed us with open arms and made sure we had a place to stay and food in our belly. Your home was always open, and so was your heart. Those are the kinds of things I'll never forget.
We shared so many great memories together, including our love for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Cheering them on together in person, on TV, via text…sharing that passion is something I'll always smile about.
I looked up to you more than you'll ever know. You weren't just my favourite cousin—you were someone I loved dearly and someone who meant so much to me. You were such a special, special person, and anyone who had the privilege of knowing you was better for it.
I still can't believe you're gone, and I'm going to miss you more than words can say.
Love you always, Cuz. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, the love and for always being exactly who you were — genuine, unforgettable, and so very loved.
Rest easy Love you forever Lori xxoo

From the day we first met, you accepted me for everything I was, and I will always be grateful to you for that. Over the last 30 years, we grew from friends into family. The talks we shared are treasures I will carry with me until the day we finally meet again. You had a beautiful smile that lit up every room, and a presence that could never be matched. I will never forget how you were there right after Willow was born, sharing in one of the biggest milestones of my life. Even if time or distance kept us apart for a while, picking up right where we left off was effortless—the love between us never wavered. Walking into your house always felt like coming home, and you were a second mom to me in every way that truly mattered. I am going to miss you more than words can say, Marlene. Until we meet again, I love you.

It's with a heavy heart that I say an earthly good bye to Marlene who was like the sister I never had. There are so many good memories and times we had together especially in Costa Rica. She loved Costa Rica and came almost every year from mid 2000's as soon as RRSP season was over at the bank. She loved the beaches, the heat, Panama border runs, the food, and even tried zip lining once but she especially liked to visit the indigenous village to buy buruca masks. She had a real collection of them and also shared many with her family. She made many friends in Costa Rica who will miss her. As well we had a great cousins' trip to Nashville in 2018. She won Darrell's heart by making him studenatz (headcheese) and finally she taught me how to make it I will think of you every time I make it, Marlene. Family events brought us together and I will treasure those memories forever. Rest in Peace Marlene--we love you.
