Obituary of Nettie Toma

NETTIE TOMA, 1941 - 2026 Commemorating the life of Nettie Toma, a long-time resident of Two Hills, Alberta. Nettie passed away in Vegreville on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 84 years of age, following a brief illness. Nettie was predeceased by Gerald, her beloved husband of 64 years, on July 11th. She remains forever in the hearts of their children Michele and Brent. Nettie is lovingly remembered by brothers Bill Shymko (Gina), Eugene Shymko (Ollie), and Mac Shymko (Iris) and several nieces and nephews. Nettie’s warm and welcoming ways, her sunny spirit and her many contributions to community events are also fondly remembered by a wide circle of friends across the region. The family wishes to thank staff at the Vegreville, Viking and Two Hills Hospitals for the compassionate care and loving support they provided to our family. A Celebration of Life for Nettie and Gerald will be announced at a later date and held at the Willingdon Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to: St. Mary's Romanian Orthodox Church of Boian, where a private interment of Nettie and Gerald will take place.
