CHECK, Roy October 23, 1933 – December 19, 2020 It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our loving father Roy Check. Roy was born and raised in the St. Michael area where he helped farm the land and was a self-taught carpenter. Roy was an instrumental part in the building of Londonderry Shopping Center, the Coliseum, West Edmonton Mall, along with numerous homes and renovations throughout the city with his business Check Construction. Roy was predeceased by his late wife Edna (Wiwad) and their son Davis. Roy is survived by his son Darin (Annette), son Dale, and daughter Darlene. He was very proud of his grandson Christopher (Breanne) and his great grandchildren Jordan and Maddie. He and his loving partner of 18 years Lorna Zacharuk travelled south for the winters and they enjoyed going to dances a couple times a week to visit with their many dear friends at the local community halls in and around Edmonton. During his 87 years, he lived his life the way he wanted. He meant what he said, joked around all the time, and loved to share old memories over a good Ukrainian meal with a beer and clam. We will miss you everyday dad. We are so proud of you and all your accomplishments. May you rest in peace and know you are loved forever. Love the kids, Darin, Dale and Darlene. Vichnaya Pamyat A celebration of life will be announced in 2021. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy’s memory to “University Hospital Foundation c/o Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute.
