I had the privilege, and honour of knowing Gerald Welin. As a boy growing up in Vegreville,two of my closest friends were Albert, and Kevin Welin. I spend a lot of time with the Welin family, and Gerald was kind enough to give me a job after school, and on Saturdays.I was not only close with Albert, and Kevin, but also with their mother (Joan), and their grandfather (Arnold). We all worked very hard at the bottle depot, and “Happy Pop” store, and when the day was done I was always welcome to stay for dinner. I will always hold Gerald in the highest regard, and often think fondly of his generosity, and fairness. Gerald was a true entrepreneur, and his dedication to his business ventures, family, and friends will be greatly missed. Gerald was like a father to me, and I will always hold his memory close to my heart
