Obituary of Laura Melnyk

MELNYK, Laura August 12, 1932 – April 13, 2016 Unexpectedly , Laura Melnyk, a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, was called to God on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Laura is survived by her loving family, her daughter Cheryl (Brian) Cain of Guelph, ON; four granddaughters Christa (Monty) Wassilyn and Carly (Tom) Hillson and Caitlin Cain and Diamond (Orrlan) Thurber all of Calgary; two grandsons Dane (Meghan) Melnyk of Edmonton and Cody Melnyk of Calgary and their mother Holly; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters Olga (Grant) Curtis and Jean Grant; two sisters-in-Law Pearl and Julie Melenka; along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Laura was predeceased by her husband John in 2011; her son Ivan in 1986; parents Alex and Helen Melenka; two brothers Victor and Bill Melenka. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nativity of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church- Kysylew with Very Reverend (Abbott) Gerasim Power. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the “Nativity of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church- Kysylew” or to “Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta.” “Вічная Память” “Memory Eternal”
