Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time over the loss of your father.
Our memories of Joe, our cousin and neighbor, are of a hardworking, family man, who whenever we met, greeted us with warmth, friendliness, and a bit of humor.
Joe’s passing signifies the end of a generation. Our fathers, third generation farmers Joe and Marshall, farmed land “across the fence” from each other, homesteaded by their parents (Dmytro and Sophie, Wasyl and Maria)/grandparents (Teodor and Eva Chmilar, who came to Canada with their 5 children in 1898). Your father was proud in knowing that his farming legacy continues on through another generation(s) with his sons/grandchildren.
