I honestly don’t know where to start…. My dad was a man that kept to himself and was, well let’s be honest a little rough around the edges. Many people remember him as a stubborn Ukrainian that knew it all and was never wrong, which is 85% of all Vegrevillians…. Including myself!
But behind all that was a man that no matter what, even in the obscure ways, put his family first. I know I know, hard to believe… That’s why I have a few stories to share to show this.
We’ll start from the shortest/Oldest and work our way up/down…
Starting with Tricia. As I hope you all know Trish has a son Evan, and they are 20 years apart. So if my math is correct, she gave birth to Evan when she was 20. Now Dad wasn’t very pleased with this at such a young age, he actually was upset… I know, that’s hard to believe. But through time he began to realize that this future grandchild would be just one more asset to mop floors at the shop…. No but in all seriousness, he would make sure that things were ready to go behind the scenes, whether it be building nursery furniture, or making sure that the vehicle was full of gas and ready to go, he was excited to meet his future grandchild….
Moving on to Torri. If I had to say, Torri had the best and most unique relationship with my dad. Probably because she moved out of the house at a young age and really, never moved back to Vegreville. With Torri Living in Red Deer and living in a Duplex, or party central, my dad would be going up to Red Deer and performing renovations and making sure the place was up to Terry’s standard, which if you know is slightly above the 98th percentile sitting at 400%. Everything always had to be perfect…. Or it just wasn’t good enough. I remember Torri got in an accident where she rolled her blazer and my dad was furious that he forgot that Torri may have been hurt. But he came to his senses and literally the next day, dad was looking in the auto trader for a new blazer for Torri, and I believe she had a new vehicle in a week or so.
Moving along to myself, the baby of the family. Now I was the only child to stay at home (and boy did I take advantage of that). But before staying at home, I thought that I could be a business man and proceeded onto my next adventure out of high school, going to NAIT for Business. I’ll never forget my dad saying to me “you better not waste my money”…. Weellll I did the exact opposite, I was there to party… and boy did I ever do that. I honestly partied so much, that I never showed up to class for 25 days straight, and when I did show up on that 26th day, it was finial exams…. Oh yes, I had no clue that there were finals on that day….. I thought I did pretty good, I passed 4 out of 6 courses, and had exceptional marks in those courses of 51%, 54%, 55% and 91% (computers). Well needless to say, right after the New year in 2001, I went to NAIT and got called to the deans office and was told that I conditional passed, but had to make up accounting and statistics with marks of 22% and 7%, respectively. So he gave me 2 options, 1st one was to drop out and be refunded ¼ of my tuition and the 2nd, I have no idea cause I just said yep to that. Well, Terry wasn’t happy with that decision, if you could imagine. But in the meantime, while I was packing and thinking about what I was going to do with my life, he was on the phone calling all of his business buddies and eventually got me a job at RJV electrical.
Finally, Evan… Evan never really had a bad relationship with my dad, like I mean Terry resented him for a bit cause Evan went through a time in his life where he lost touch with his family and lets be honest, he never really talked to anyone for a few months. But that never stopped my dad from making sure that Evans car was in tip top shape, making sure that his winter tires were on. Or helping him out with down payments with purchases of new cars and such.
So with all that, Tricia raised a great kid, Torri be came self-reliant and able to have a great life living away from home. I continued on with my career in electrical, got my Masters and got a job at Atco Electric (which he was super proud of me for achieving). Evan became literally my dads best friend, and loved helping Evan in any way he could.
Moral of the story, what ever we did to my dad bad or really bad, he always made sure that we were ready for our next adventure! Helping us along our ways in life.
I’ll never forget the last night that I spent with him in the Hospital. The Nurse came in and asked to talk to me. She said that it was not looking good and that I should call my immediate family because it’s not looking good. After having a moment to myself in the hallway, I went back into the room with him and starting crying. Not caring about himself he grabbed my hand and asked what’s wrong, I responded nothing, just having a moment. I Then in a heartbeat recalled the day that he called me and told that he was going to beat this son-of-a-bitch cause he wanted to see my boys Ben, become and NHL player and Jake become a farmer. I told him that I was proud of him for fighting like he did, and he basically shushed me and said, No Trevor, I’m proud of you.
That was the last sentence that my dad told me… and I’ll never forget it.
Dad I know that you are up there sitting on your couch, with Chance, Niki, JD and Chuck with The Tokens “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” a weeeeeeeee-eeeeeeeeeee-eeeeeeee-mo-wamo-way looking day on us and continuing to help us all on our journeys in life. I want to say thanks for being there, and I will miss you every day… no matter hawhat.

I still remember the first time I met Terry, I was a little unsure as I was lead to believe that he was difficult to get to know, well it couldn't have been further from the truth, we sat and talked and he was interested in what I had to say, from that time on I always enjoyed his company. I found out he was quite the prankster as a couple of time he would call me up pretending to be somebody else and me not expecting him to call and thinking it was somebody else I might have been a little direct, then he would laugh cause he knew he got me and I think that made his day. One day he asked me if it cost money to race I said yes, not really understanding what the question was about, then he ask if I enjoyed it I said yes he said good then do it. There are other stories but these are ones that quickly come to mind. I'm sure gonna miss him. Rest in Peace

Uncle Terry was always willing to lend a helping hand or some advice. He was an easy choice for our MC when Rolanda and I got married. When I bought my first home, he helped me set up, landscape, and even let me borrow a John Deere or two! The times we spent together at Floating Stone were precious. We often went “sailing” without a sailboat near by! I loved how he always showed interest in my boys’ lives by asking about hockey and all of the sports they were involved in. He even asked about the farming and crops of my in-laws! We will miss him immensely. Rest in peace, Uncle Terry.

On behalf of Diane, myself and family our most heartfelt condolences to Auntie Dorothy, Trish, Tori, and Trevor and family. The passing of uncle Terry is felt by us as we as well will miss him very much. Our memories of him are wonderful and happy, as we always found him kind, wise, paternal and helpful beyond a fault. I myself saw how generous a man he was with his time, his good nature, and could see his willingness to help whenever he was asked. I remember needing a translator doing driving lessons last year, as I had a student from Ukraine. Things really weren’t going the best due to the language barrier, and having to quickly think, I thought of Uncle Terry. I called him and explained my dilemma and he said yes, come over. Well….I was in his driveway for an hour, he took the time to explain to the student as well as to me, he wanted the best outcome for the both of us. I still think of this time in amazement because he really understood what we both needed. And with his help in some translations, the student passed her road test. Other memories are very numerous and very heart felt to me. At weddings, family gatherings, anywhere where we gathered, he always always always made special effort to sit with, hang out, and spend time with me. I think he saw my reserved nature and it was his way of making me feel relaxed and included in his way. I’ll forever appreciate that. Our visits and chats….he always talked about my children, always happy with their successes.
I am very honored to leave my heartfelt words in tribute to a man I will forever admire.

While Roger and I express our deepest sympathies and sorrow to Dorothy, Trish, Torri, Trevor, and their entire family, it is comforting to remember and celebrate the legacy that Terry leaves behind. He was a kind and thoughtful man who enjoyed life and shared his knowledge of everything tinkering. Terry was the first guy to volunteer his wisdom if you ever needed advice with respect to fixing anything really. Heck - even if you didn't require any advice on a particular project - he was still there offering a shot and moral support. Terry and Dorothy, together, were always the hosts with the most at Floating Stone Lake!!! For many years in our younger days, on too many occasions to count, there were many large and small gatherings of friends congregated at their cottage all year round - especially in the winter, as their garage very conveniently seemed to transform into a little community hall. We shared many laughs and great times with Terry and his family at the lake. Those memories remain with us - always. We trust that his family, too, are comforted by all their special-shared memories and we want to convey that being remembered in this way is to live on forever. May Terry, our friend, rest in peace.
God bless all of you during this difficult time.

My memories, and not only a tribute to my Brother Terry but also my friend!!
One of my early memories is when we moved to Willingdon & at Christmas time Terry bought Ivan & I a Stand Up Chalk Board. I was so excited (which seems like nothing) but for me it was so special because we never usually got big gifts like that & that Terry thought about the two of us.
We had a farm at Willingdon and also at Duvernay. One spring weekend Terry came to the farm at Willingdon and the two of us went to Duvernay to do some farm work. He was working on one farm and I was working on the other one. The plan was that we would work until dusk & meet back with the tractors at Terry’s truck. Once it was dark I went back to the spot where Terry’s truck was supposed to be but to my surprise his tractor was there but no truck and no Terry. Just his empty tractor. I started to panic (I was 12 years old) so I went to the neighbors place and called home. Mom answered and that’s when Terry remembered that he forgot me.
Terry loved farming & all machinery. I remember helping him build a Cab for dad’s combine & he built it to perfection cause that’s how Terry did everything!!
I remember when he bought the property at Floating Stone and asked me if I would come & help clear out some bush. When we arrived there I got out of the truck I looked around looked at Terry and said where’s the property cause it was all bush!
Terry and Dorothy turned that piece of property into a wonderful cabin for all of us to enjoy! Once again Terry did it to perfection.
My family and I have so many wonderful memories of all the times we spent out there with Terry, Dorothy and there family and friends.
His restoration of the 1972 Ski-doo’s perfection again!!
This one winter night the 4 of us, Terry, Dave, Rick & myself ( after a few white sails) decided at about 11 o’clock that evening that we should take those sleds out on the lake . After about 10-15 minutes out on the lake we could see everyone’s cabin lights coming on because we woke them up with how loud the sleds where. Terry loved it and was so proud of those sleds.
Shortly after that I convinced him & Dave to come with Rick and I to the mountains snowmobiling. When we got up that mountain Terry said to me the scenery up here has to be God’s country cause it was so beautiful!! I’m so glad we did this trip together & another special memory that I have!!
When Christie and I were getting married we wanted someone special for our MC. So we asked Terry. He was so excited. He did an amazing job, once again something I will never forget.
I have so many special memories of Terry but one of the latest ones was when he retired he told me he wanted to restore a Cockshutt Tractor like dad had. I knew Terry would do an amazing job cause that’s just how he was!! But to my surprise Terry didn’t just restore 1 he restored 3 to perfection once again!!
Dad would have been so proud!!
Last summer he phoned me & asked if I would drive one of his tractors in the Vegreville parade. Well little did he know how special this would be for me & how honoured I was to do this with him. So many people clapped and gave us the thumbs up as we rode in that parade. After that we went to Terry & Dorothy’s place for pizza & he was so thrilled that all 3 tractors made it to the end of the parade & then he found out he won an award for them. He truly couldn’t wipe the smile off of his face!!
I will treasure forever the last visit Christie & I had on April 1st with him & Dorothy at their house. Even though he was in pain we had the best visit. Little did I know that was gonna be one of the last times I would see him.
Seeing him in the hospital that last time broke my heart as this was very hard for me to say goodbye!! We prayed that he would beat the Cancer but God had a different plan for him.
I do miss our phone conversations because he not only was my big brother but my friend in which I knew if I ever needed anything I could always count on him!!
There isn’t a day that I don’t think of him and as time goes on the pain will lessen but what keeps me positive is the special memories that we shared!!
One day him & I will drive those
Cockshutt tractors together again!!
Terry I love you and miss you but know you aren’t suffering anymore.
My thoughts and prayers to Dorothy, Tricia, Torri, Trevor and family.

I will never forget the first time Randy took me to meet his whole family in Vegreville how nervous I was. As we got to his parents house in Vegreville we were walking on the driveway & under the carport Randy’s brother Terry was standing there having a smoke. I didn’t know who he was at the time. Randy introduce me to him & he said Hi & come with me!! He took me straight over to his dad & said this is Randy’s girlfriend be nice to her!!
From that moment on I knew he was a good guy & someone I could always trust!!
He was the perfect example of a big brother!!
I have so many fond memories of all the times we spent at the cabin!!
Terry was always mowing grass, cutting trees, cleaning up, cooking, taking us for boat rides, always doing something to make sure we all enjoyed ourselves while he worked!!
Dorothy and Terry taught us how to make cabin syrup for pancakes and also how to make the best baked potatoes in a pot over a fire, which I still make to this day!!
Over the years Randy & I have always looked up to Terry with respect & love & so very grateful to have him as a big brother but mostly as our friend whom we miss very much.
We always knew if ever we needed anything we could count on him. He always treated us with love & respect also!!
I miss his phone calls to my work asking me if we sell fuel and if we could deliver a few litres to his acerage!!
I’m so very grateful for Terry phoning & asking Randy to drive a tractor in the Vegreville parade because that meant so much to Randy and the 4 of us had such a great time together that day!!
Randy & I will forever treasure the last visit we had with Terry & Dorothy— it was just a very special time❤️
Love and miss you Terry until we meet again!!
Dorthy, Tricia, Torri, Trevor & families my heart breaks for all of you!! May God heal your broken hearts!! Love you all!!

My memory goes back to the early days of when I first started dating Tricia, one of Terry’s beloved daughters. There was an air of nervousness at the time as I was duly warned by friends and family of Terry’s strongly protective ways when it came to his daughter and family. Needless to say, I was a tad petrified prior to meeting him haha. What I grew to realize however, was just how kind and generous of a man Terry was. He made me feel welcome, respected and appreciated and if there ever was a hint of being protective of his daughter it came from a place of deep care and concern. He went out of his way to always make things special for family and dedicated his life to ensuring same. I will always have a tremendous amount of respect for him for that and great memories of watching him pridefully enjoying his family to the fullest. May Terry rest in peace and his loving family continue to enjoy the memories he created for them all, including myself.

When someone you love becomes a memory,
the memory becomes an unforgettable
treasure.
That treasure is Terry my cousin, my true friend
who I am really going to miss.
We grew up together, we played together and
we partied together. Way, way back we worked
together, we even shaved the hair on our heads
together and bald was not in at that time. We
would rush out and pump gas and wash the vehicle
windows, our faces tanned and of course our
hairless white heads stood out even more. Remember this is early 1960’s and know one shaved their heads. Some feared us and some just laughed. We were a sight!
When we speak or think of Terry there will always
be the ‘Remember When’……
Dorothy, Terry enriched our lives and has left an
indelible imprint of memories, which you will cherish, as will all of us.

On April 13/23 at 18:32 I lost a very special part of my life. My dear husband Terry , lost his battle with lung cancer. Terry never gave up, he was bound and determined he was going to beat this beast that was causing so much pain in his body. He was the bravest man I have ever seen fighting cancer. He appreciated so much that all of his children and grandchildren kept in touch with him every day. He loved all of them so much. Everything he did was for his family, especially for his three grandsons. Anytime we would talk about our grandsons, his face would light up with a big smile.
I just want to let you know Terry, that I miss you so, so much. I miss our talks at supper, I miss seeing you having breakfast when I come home from work and I miss you when I say Goodnight. Zoey, our "Grand Dog", stays with me many nights so I won't be alone. But I still miss you very much, I love you very much and we will be together again.

God saw you getting tired,
And the cure was not to be,
So He wrapped you in His loving arms,
And whispered, "Come with Me."
You suffered much in silence,
Your spirit did not bend.
You faced your pain with courage,
Until the very end.
You tried so hard to stay with us,
Your fight was all in vain.
God took you in his loving arms,
And saved you from the pain.

Terry, being my brother in law for over 50 years I have many great memories. Many cabin parties and many acreage parties. And the last few years many suppers out. Terry always had a prank to play on me… from bugging me about going to Emerald Hills shopping- he could not fiqure out what I had so much to buy but it was my get away trip and most of the time I never bought anything. And phoning me asking if I had brown eggs for sale. But the joke was back at him when the waitress turned the candles around for his 75 birthday to 57. What a good laugh we all had.
Terry was a very hard worker - developing the lake lot and cabin at the lake, buying an acreage and building a garage where he spent many hours restoring snowmobiles and the last few years refurbishing his collection of tractors. He was very proud of his tractors and this last fall I had to go and take my “big good” camera to take pictures. Terry was always there to help me.
Missing you Terry…….Rest In Peace my friend.

I will always remember and greatly miss all of the fun times I spent with Terry. If it was me, Trev and Reid doing chores for Terry, or having a white sail with him when we were done. Terry always made you feel welcomed and treated us like we were one of his boys. I will always cherish getting the see the whole Warawa clan at Evans wedding as all of you have always made me feel like a part of the family.

One of my favorite memories of uncle Terry would have to be those breakfast mornings at the lake! I can picture him still standing outside making his big breakfast for everyone and his amazing syrup (that I still make to this day!)
Uncle Terry was always such a kind man. There was always many times I'd journey to the city and happen to run out of windshield washer fluid right at Veg, so I'd pop into the shop and he'd make sure he'd top my car up and always said, it's ok Nicole, this jug is on me!!!
You will be greatly missed uncle.

I'll always remember the rinks Uncle Terry built and all the memories it gave me. And I tell you what like Uncle Terry fashion, he got better and better every year building those rinks and he never stopped. I also remember all the times at Gido and Baba's during Christmas all the laughs and all the food. And as I got older I got to ask him questions about business and talk business and I'm gonna miss that as well. You'll be missed by so many but now you can rest easy with Baba, Gido and Uncle Ivan!! My fondest memory of Terry is us celebrating our birthdays together as much as he didn’t want his picture taken he had a big smile. And thank you Terry for having a hand in raising Evan who is a perfect husband for my daughter and some day he will be a great father and you had a lot to do with that. Rest easy my friend.

Uncle Terry will truly be missed. He has always been part of our lives. His love for his family included us. We all grew up together and that gave us some of our fondest memories. For most of his life he worked hard and played hard. His strongest love was for his grandchildren, family and pets. He loved to laugh and to make all of us laugh. His sense of humor and practical jokes will be missed. I know that some of his most loved people passed before him. We take comfort in the fact that you have met them again. Rest in Peace Uncle Terry.

Where to start with Memories of uncle Terry. To me he will always be that caring, selfless guys who was always gentle with us kids. He would be stern when needed to be but I never walked away from him as a little kid scared of how mean he was. He was always the calm collected one it seemed amongst our dads lol. From him tuning up the quads or the odd time where we would come out to the cabin in the winter times, we would hang out with the dads in the big shed while Uncle Terry fixed up sleds for us to ride on. He always made me feel welcomed when we came over to your place. And I always enjoyed coming over there no matter what time of the year. You were both great hosts but I am glad he was in my life to make my childhood that much better. I am so sorry for your loss.❤️❤️❤️

I have so many fond memories of Uncle Terry, the first being the day Aunty Dorothy and Uncle Terry were getting married. There was an old prank tradition of "stealing the bride" and Uncle Terry was so furious and demanded the return of his new bride immediately! At 10 years old, I knew I had just witnessed true love, and Uncle Terry had passed my test. I knew from that moment on, he would look after and make "my buddy" Aunty Dorothy happy for the rest of their lives.
Uncle Terry was a funny funny man! His mannerisms, jokes and pranks were enjoyed by all, there was never a dull moment. The sound of laughter was his gift, so Blessed!
Uncle Terry, please know you made a difference in so many lives. May you rest in peace and just know you will be missed dearly. I love you, and God Bless You!

Dearest Uncle Terry you will be lovingly missed by all of us. I always admired how hard you worked, you were a pillar of strength to me. We had so many fun times at the many gatherings you and Aunty Dorothy held at the house, acreage and cabin. Even though I didn’t see you much over the last few years, you always made time to say ‘how have you been doing lately?’ and listened to our response. You could also be cheeky, making us kids laugh! Our hearts are filled with love for you, may you rest now in peace with Gido, Baba and Uncle Ivan♥️

When I got to really know Terry it was when we were in Nova Scotia for Evan's wedding. I got put at the adult table and was seated right across from him, needless to say I was happy to see someone laugh at all my jokes. This would've been my first great memory of him and one that will last forever. Terry will be dearly missed.

One memory I will hold dear was from Terry's last night at home... as Evan was trying to get Zoey (Terrys fur great-grandchild) to leave, she stubbornly wouldn't follow and instead went back to Terry on the couch, licked his hand, and laid by his feet.
To know Terry was to know he had a calm and kind demeanor, he loved dogs and they loved him, too! Though Terry went unpaid, we are so fortunate to of had him for all those extra babysitting shifts. Zoey felt at peace around him, and they bonded over nap time.
My most sincere condolences. God bless you Dorothy, and your family... We love you!

Gido! A popular word in our house as Gido was out at our place almost daily. When the boys were young they’d always run out to see Gido and the smile Gido would get on his face was so bright. Ben and Jake were his 2 favourite people out here. What the boys wanted, the boys got. They wanted to cut grass, he mounted car seats so they could ride with him. They wanted to drive quads, he made sure those quads were up and running. They wanted snowmobiles, guess what showed up in the yard! An outdoor hockey rink, they got it. There wasn’t much he said no to. He will be missed dearly but all those memories will live on!
