Barrie was a great man. I worked with him at ATCO Electric since 2004. He got me the job as an engineer in training and was a great mentor. Like many others, I’ll always remember his smile. He will be missed. My condolences to Cathy and family. -Trevor Grenier

Dear Cathy and family, our heart felt condolences for your loss. Barrie was a kind soul and wonderful human being. He was a dear friend during our high school and university years. Life leads us all on different paths and we often can’t stay as connected as we would like. The many fond memories of our adventures and misadventures camping, biking and cross-country skiing still make me smile. Rest in peace my friend.

I was a serviceman/lineman working in NW Alberta.
Barry was our senior manager residing in Peace River at the time.
I had many interaction with Barry. What stood out for me personally was his unique ability to listen to people and never once being judgmental. He was caring and compassionate.
He will be missed by many I am certain.
Rest in peace Mr. Gorrie. You were certainly one of a kind .

Barrie was a true gentleman, a really good friend, an awesome manager and a man of faith. He always had a smile no matter how difficult a situation or day would have been. I was very sorry to hear of Barrie's passing. I extend my sincerest condolences to his family and friends. I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with Barrie during his long and accomplished career at ATCO. He was a warm, positive and intelligent man and a delight to work with in addressing various ATCO matters over the years. Our conversations would always invariably turn to hockey at some point during our exchanges...a shared passion! Barrie will certainly be missed by all of us, but he has certainly left us with his legacy of contribution, warmth and friendship.

Cathy our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. Barrie was a good man and a great friend. In our high school years we had many great social times and enjoyed playing together on our high schools teams. Barrie was a really respected member of the ATCO team and there were times when Barrie and I had to work together to solve issues for our respected companies and Barrie was also fair and opened minded. I know Barrie was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and he also spoke with pride about the kids and their accomplishments. We will miss him dearly.
