I first met Dave after arriving from Newfoundland in 1979. By the early 80’s we had become close friends, both young men in the big City just starting into our professional working lives.
Through those early years we both met our current wives. I had the honour of being Dave’s best man at his wedding to Judy in 1982 and he as a groomsman in my wedding to Louise in 1983.
As couples, we grew close and enjoyed spending a lot of after work time, socializing, playing sports, camping, and frequenting the many cabarets. We enjoyed life to it’s fullest with our wives and mutual friends.
By the late 80’s and into the 90’s we were both blessed with the arrival of our children. Two daughters and a son each. From those early days forward, we have continued to spend time together for camping, fishing and socializing with our families.
Dave and I shared good and bad times over the past 45 years, he was there to support me, with the passing of my parents and I for him later.
Dave was always a fierce competitor in sports, but a gentle active listener, always eager to help and support those close to him.
He was a man who held a deep devotion to his family, friends and work. A gentleman, a successful businessman and farmer. But most of all a son, husband, father, grandfather, and close friend more akin to a brother.
It seems we have all been cheated by his leaving us early. Each of us can truly say how special it was to have shared his journey with him.
We cannot see you with our eyes, we cannot touch you with our hands, but we feel you in our hearts forever!
Judy, Troy, Rayna, Eliza, Carter, Torri, Kyle, Tannis and Tristan, I offer my deepest condolences to you from our family. May your memories somehow ease your grief, he will truly be missed.

Dave was an amazing person. He could be both professional and personal. Daily his office lights were on very early, before the crack of dawn. I'd call and he would answer, come down, and we'd meet. Always available to others he was respected, will be remembered and missed.

Dear Judy and family I am so sad we lost a great guy . I can’t attend but I NEED to say how much respect I have always had for Dave. We all know you had to EARN Dave’s respect. I had one of the best friendships years ago when I worked alongside Dave in the Government days. So many laughters with Jeannette Cook, Lyle Butchart, and Dave Bentley. We also did some commercial and Residential Reno’s together . Cheers buddy. You will be missed Grant Sawchuk

Thinking back to when I first met Dave when he started with Delnor I was a second year apprentice. It was in 1995 when Dave had approached me said he would like me to run a job for him TD bank on Whyte ave and 109st. He seen potential in me to move up and I continued being a site superintendent. Most I work a lot of his jobs especially out of town and nights gaining more and more experience. Dave was a very fair and caring person over the years he cared about his family and workers. I was very lucky to know him.

I worked with Dave for many years, he was always there for anyone who needed an ear to listen. I also during that time got to meet Judy and his children and hold a special place in my heart for all of them. Dave will be missed.

Judy and family. I am sending my sincere condolences to you and your family. I don't know if you remember me Judy, but I worked with Dave many years ago. You and Dave stopped by the acerage a couple of times to visit with Lyle and myself. I was just texting with Grant, as we all worked together, and we were saying how much fun we had with Dave. We got the work done, but we also had a lot of laughs. Those were the good old days. Again, I am so sorry to hear about Dave.

Judy- you likely won’t remember me but I worked with Dave at PWSS and we all made many memories at our get togethers with the gang. A long time ago. Lots of fun. I am so sorry to hear this and my sympathies to you and family. Way too soon.
