ULAN, Julian Fredrick, BA, LLB 1935 - 2024 It is with great sadness and profound love that we announce the passing of Julian on Friday June 14, 2024. Julian passed peacefully with his family by his side at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. He is survived by his loving wife Hazel of 65 years; son Wesley (Deborah Haynes); pride and joy granddaughter Bryanna; daughter Julie (Sonia Glubish); sister-in-law Bea Kindraka; sisters Lovie Chomyc and Doreen Harty; brother Eli (Irene) Ulan; brother Jim (Gwen) Ulan, brother-in-law Dave Fedun; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Julian was predeceased by his parents, Dmytro and Julia Ulan; father-in-law and mother-in-law John and Jean Kindraka; sisters Sylvia Smith and Iris Fedun; and brothers-in-law Gene Harty, Orest Chomyc and Vic Smith. Julian was born and raised in Mundare, Alberta, and then relocated to Edmonton to study Law at the University of Alberta. Julian practiced law in Mundare and Edmonton until he retired in 1987. He loved all sports and was a strong supporter of the Oilers, Eskimos, Blue Jays and professional Curling. He was a proud Eskimos season ticket holder for over 55 years. Julian was an active curler well into his 80’s and proud to represent Edmonton at the 55 Plus Alberta Winter Games in 2013. Julian loved puttering in his fruit and vegetable garden or helping neighbours with any project at hand. Julian enjoyed reading about current events, politics, and finance, and always welcomed a healthy debate on any of those topics. The family has fond memories spending time outdoors, camping or at the Moose Lake Cabin. Julian was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a welcoming, genuine, kind and compassionate person. We will all miss him very much. The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff and doctors at the University of Alberta Hospital, Unit 5 East for their care. A private Funeral Service will be held at the Evergreen Funeral Home in Edmonton, Alberta with Celebrant Verna Klimack and Very Reverend Igor Kisil officiating. Interment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
