Obituary of Sylvia Stephanie Ballash
BALLASH, Sylvia Stephanie (nee Tarapacki)
Sylvia Ballash was born February 12th 1926 and passed away peacefully January 27th 2018. Sylvia will be sadly missed and always be remembered by her family. She is survived by her brother Michael Tarapacki; sisters Elsie Cummings, Iris Hohl and Leona (Peter) Pauk; sisters-in-law Lillian Tarapacki and Phylliss Tarapacki. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and a great-great nephew, all who will miss her deeply.
Sylvia was predeceased by one son Marvin Larry in 2013; her parents Mary and John Tarapacki; sister Anne; brothers Peter, Edward and in infancy, Joseph; brothers-in-law Walter Burak and Henry Hohl.
Sylvia was born on the farm in Innisfree and spent most of her adult life in Red Deer, AB. In recent years Sylvia relocated to Edmonton and resided in The Good Samaritan Extended Care Home. Much gratitude is extended to all staff on the 1st Floor for their kindness and dedicated loving care during the past few years. Due to recent illness, Sylvia was moved to the Grey Nuns Hospital during her last days. Sincere appreciation and thanks to all staff on Unit 54 for their compassion, kind efforts, and family support to ensure her continued comfort over the past week.
A Divine Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Vegreville, AB (5705 - 51st Street) on Friday, February 2nd 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with the Basilian Fathers officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery.
