With sadness we just learned of the passing of Günter and extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Susi and Günter's children with their husband and wives.
As young immigrants from Germany, Günter attracted us to Chipman in the mid-1970', and became a wonderfull surrogate father for several years. Günter allways motivated and encouraged us. He taught us his secrets in business, farming and hunting and made us feel at home, in this for us so exciting new world. He was a great family-man and a true and generous friend.

Uncle Guenter was my only and definitely my favorite Godfather. His stories were always both humorous but also thought provoking. He always went big with everything and didn't leave a lot of rocks unturned. Loved every minute I got from him and he has been a big influence on my life.

I wrote this for Opa the day he passed for my family and they asked I share it here.
“We lost my Opa today. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family. When I got the call and heard how he left the world, my first thought was how could a man who I knew growing up as vivacious and wild and ready for a martini and some unpredictable storytelling leave any party “peacefully.” But he surely lived loudly enough to earn that.
I’m very fortunate that this is my first experience losing an immediate grandparent, and in such a kind way. I’m familiar with loss and illness but not with death, but I think about how he must be greeting the beyond with all the power and ability he couldn’t fully access in the last few years.
So when my baby wiggles around and kicks and throws an absolute party whilst also telling me to crave wine and a good steak, and my mom tells me she knows what family line that comes from; that zest for a good time originates with a man who is now finally getting a big celebration somewhere he’s been waiting for.”
