CHORNEY, SOPHIE
December 11, 1932 – October 26, 2022
On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Sophie Chorney of Edmonton, Alberta, formerly of Vegreville, passed away at the age of 89 years.
Sophie is survived by her loving family, sons Jeff (Fay) and Ron (Cathy Swystun); grandchildren Matthew (Emily), Shaun (Becca), Katelyn (Shawn) Thomas and Christopher (Kayla); great-grandchildren James Chorney, Layla Chorney, Orryn Chorney, Lily Thomas and Jack Thomas; sisters Nancy Carson and Rosemarie Oswald; along with numerous relatives and friends. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Matthew of 16 years; her parents Anthony and Anna Smerychynski; brothers Mike, Phillip and John; sisters Mary Smerychynski, Pauline Bletcher and Zena Dahl.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Autumn Rose Funeral Home (5036-51 Ave) in Vegreville with Reverend Father Michael Maranchuk officiating. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the “Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation.”
